SECOND RELEASE of Maybach Vocabulum, sourced from the vineyard formerly known as Thorevilos. Planted in 1990 to a small hillside valley 800 ft above the Silverado Trail, the soil here is mostly volcanic rock with stones, pebbles, and red clay. Located near St. Helena, this site is long known to produce wines of depth and finesse.

TASTING NOTES

This vintage speaks to completeness. The wine possesses a dynamic bright quality, but it’s also rooted in darkness. The aromas veer from notes of plum paste, dark chocolate, black tea and charcoal. The palate moves to concentrated boysenberry, iron, baker’s chocolate and chalky minerality. The perception of lightness here keeps the wine fresh and mouthwatering but the intensity of the fruit reminds you that this is Napa Valley wine from a great site in a great vintage. Drinking this wine now shows it at its most bold and kaleidoscopic expression, while allowing some time in the cellar will surely allow for more dimension to emerge.
